Kakatiya University Senate approves budget of Rs 431.20 crore for year 2024-25

Out of total estimated revenues of Rs 431.20 crore, the expenditure is of Rs 449.73 crore with a deficit of Rs 8.08 crore

More than 60 per cent budget is allocated for salaries and pensions for the employees which amounts to Rs 207.44 crore

WARANGAL, MARCH 30, 2024: The Kakatiya University has approved a budget of Rs 431.20 crore for the financial year 2024-25 at the 39th Academic senate meeting on Saturday.

The Senate meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Thatikonda Ramesh in the presence of Registrar Prof P Malla Reddy, Dean faculty of Commerce and Principal Prof P Amaraveni and others.

The Kakatiya University revenues are estimated at Rs. 431.20 crores against the expenditure of Rs. 449.73 crores leaving a deficit of Rs. 8.08 crores. The state government sanction Rs 134.94 in the form of Grant in aid, and from other resources Rs. 296.26 crores.  The internal resources include RS. 32.81 crores from UGC arrears, Rs. 8.00 cr from academic and tuition fee,  Rs. 24.28 cr from others, Rs. 58.79 from Examination Branch and so on.

Budget presentation figures include an expenditure of Rs. 207.44 cr towards salaries of regular employers and pensions; which accounts from more than 60%, while it is Rs. 63.44 cr for examinations and academic activities.   This Year University is expected to receive grants from RUSA to the extent of Rs. 44.00 cr. for research cum infrastructure and developmental activities.  The senate also approved the annual reports for the year 2022 – 23.

The Vice-Chancellor in his report highlighted the achievements which include securing NAAC “A+” grade, conducting 82nd Indian History Congress, Convocation, conduct of Ph.D. admissions successfully and infrastructural development which includes K Hub, P.V. Knowledge Centre, Dining Hall of Boys hostel, increase of Girls accommodation, 2nd floor of administrative building etc.,  He also informed the senate that the has enhanced the wages of Daily wage employees which were pending since long time and assured that the wages for the casual and lump sum employees would be enhanced soon. The university issued compassionate appointments, and paid arrears to pensioners both teaching and non-teaching and pay revision arrears to regular employees despite of financial constraints. The University also implemented the GOs enhancing the remuneration of contract and part time teachers.

Prof. V.Gopal Reddy, Former Vice-Chancellor responded with suggestion to introduce skill and job oriented courses in order to increase internal resources. Prof. Vidyavati, former Vice-Chancellor sought immediate appointment of regular faculty to fill staff gap and efforts should be increased to undertake continuous and multi-disciplinary research.

Dr. Ampasayya Naveen, academic senate member appreciated the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor in getting NAAC A+ grade, despite several disturbances and obstacles. Prof. P Mallareddy, Registrar highlighted the academic developments which include introduction of new courses and reforms in examination branch.

Public Relations officer Prudvi Raju Vallala presented a documentary highlighting the achievements of the University. Assistant Registrar Kola Shankar welcomed the guest and Finance Officer T.Rajaiah proposed Vote of thanks.
