KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 02, 2024: Municipal Corporator belonging to BRS Kamaljith Kaur along with her husband and BRS leader Sohan Singh staged a novel protest at a traffic island opposite to Karimnagar One Town police station in Karimnagar town on Sunday, as part of decennial Telangana State formation day.
Stating that the MCK authorities had removed the Telangana Thalli statue at the traffic island on the pretext of Smart City works and beautification of the islands, the BRS leaders said that the MCK authorities had removed the Telangana Thalli statue three years ago and no one knows whereabouts of the statue. The MCK had taken up the beautification of island since last three years and there was no progress on the completion of the works or installation of Telangana Thalli statue at the site.
Irked over the negligent attitude of the MCK, the BRS corporator staged a protest by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Telangana Thalli at the island on the occasion of decennial celebrations of Telangana formation day. Demanding the MCK authorities to install the Telangana thalli statue at the said traffic island, the corporator threatened of intensifying the agitation by mobilising the support of the Telangana protagonists.
It may be recalled that the Municipal authorities had removed the statues of Telangana Thalli and former MP Chokka Rao from the island on the pretext of beautification of the traffic island as part of Smart City project.
