DFO inaugurates A-scan facilities at Rekurthi Lions charitable eye hospital

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 01, 2024: Rajanna-Sircilla District Forest Officer Ch Balamani has formally inaugurated the latest equipment of A scan facility at Lions club of Karimnagar Dr Bhaskar Madekar charitable eye hospital in Rekurthi of Karimnagar town on Friday.

A-scan ultrasound is most commonly used for measurement of axial length (AL), which is critical for intraocular lens (IOL) calculations before cataract surgery. Accurate measurement of the eye’s Axial Length is essential for attaining excellent refractive outcomes after cataract surgery. Another application of A-scan is to determine the ultrasonic properties (i.e., high internal reflectivity, low internal reflectivity) and size of posterior segment masses.

The DFO visited the hospital and visited all wards and departments and was impressed by the sanitation and maintenance on par with the corporate hospitals. Speaking after inaugurating A scan facilities, she said that the forest department would provide all assistance for taking up massive plantation on the hospital premises.

Hospital Chairman Konda Venumurthy appealed to the people to visit the Lions charitable eye hospital for free treatment. He also appealed to the philanthropists to donate Rs 2,000 to provide eye sight to the poor people.  Trust board members Dr T Muralidhar Rao, Kola Anna Reddy and others were also present.
