Singareni seeking assistance of Australian firms in mining technology to increase the coal production of 100 million tonnes

HYDERABAD, MAY 23, 2024: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited which is going with a mission of achieving the coal production of 100 million tonnes has sought the assistance of Australian firms specialising in the area of mechanised and modern technology to increase the coal production.

Accordingly, SCCL chairman and managing director N Balaram has met Australia trade and investment commissioner Dennis Eaton at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday and discussed various issues pertaining to increase of coal production in Singareni and sharing of mining technology.

He stated that the company already has agreements with two Australian companies – Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and Safety in Mines Testing and Research Station (Simtars) – in the areas of mining safety and technology.

He suggested the Australian delegation to study the needs of Singareni and make proposals for cooperation. He explained the prevailing the technology in Singareni and the coal production achieved and the progress of the SCCL and diversification into generation of thermal and solar power.

Australia trade and investment commissioner Dennis Eaton said that the Australian technical experts would visit Singareni in the month of November 2024 and study the feasibility of different technologies to increase the coal production, she also promised to necessary training to the Singareni staff in new technologies to increase coal production. She assured all assistance to SCCL to increase the coal and fulfill its dream of producing 100 million tonnes of coal per annum. Business development manager Ramakrishna was also present.
