Women stitch green future with jute bags in Jagtial

JAGTIAL, FEBRUARY 14, 2024: In an initiative blending women’s empowerment and environmental preservation, around 30 women self-help group members Laxmipur village of Jagtail district are shaping a sustainable destiny.

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with Jana Vikasa rural development organization had successfully completed the training of the womenfolk in jute bags makings and protect environment from pollution.

The women after undergoing training have mastered in the art of crafting eco-friendly jute bags. By imparting the skills needed to create jute bags, the programme not only empowers women to earn a living but also champions a cleaner environment.

The closing ceremony of the training was conducted on Wednesday. On this occasion, NABARD AGM P Manohar Reddy handed over certificates and stipend amount to the participants of the training. Appealing the womenfolk to turn into entrepreneurs, he assured to market their jute bags by conducting melas.

DRDO Sudheer promised to popularize the use of jute bags in the district through SHG women groups and promote their marketing. Lead Bank manager P Venkat Reddy promised to provide financial assistance for setting up jute bag manufacturing units through PMEGP and provide subsidy. Jana Vikasa organization secretary P Sampath Kumar, DRDO APM Gangadhar,, TGB manager Karthik, VOs A Rajyalaxmi and Bhagya, trainer Swapna and others were also present.
