In a  statement, Penchala Srinivas said that the retired finance officer M Ravinder was appointed as university finance officer in the year 2018 by following a GO. After a brief stint of one year, he resigned to his post for personal reasons. In the year 2021, when S Mallesham took charge as VC, Ravinder was appointed by the VC without issuing any notification and ratified it later at university EC meeting. He reminded that any retired employee should work only for three years after his retirement. But, in Satavahana University, the finance officer was appointed illegally and continuing his renewal of services violating the norms, he stated.

The finance officer resorted to several irregularities under the guidance of then VC S Mallesham in coordination with registrar Varaprasad, he said and added that the finance officer made purchases of new vehicles and spent huge amount as fuel expenses, constructed buildings for commissions, resorting to illegal promotions and appointments and large-scale irregularities in budget and audit reports.

He urged the government to conduct an inquiry against the finance officer to recover the amount from him. He also charged that then VC and registrar also help Ravinder to secure ‘Best employee award’ from the district administration during Independence day celebrations in 2023.
