KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 08, 2025: In a drive to spread awareness about traffic rules among students, a traffic awareness programme was held at Kora English Medium School of the Johnson Global School in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
The school campus was literally transformed into the traffic training institute by converting the green carpets into black-top roads, zebra crossings, traffic signals, sign boards, traffic islands and other aspects of the roads. On this occasion, the students drove their bicycles and battery operated toy-vehicles as part of mock demonstrations to follow traffic rules and regulations.
While other students acted as pedestrians and learned how to cross the road without causing traffic snarls and accidents. The students were educated on walking only on footpaths, adhering to traffic rules and regulations, wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding use of mobile phone while driving taking videos on the roads etc. The students also enacted a small skit on how to react instantly in case of an accident and save a life.
Johnson Global School Chairman Utkuri Mahipal Reddy, who inaugurated the traffic awareness camp, said that empowered the students on the issue of minor driving, citing real-life incidents and legal consequences and underscoring the irresponsible behaviour often displayed by underage drivers. He said that the students should advocate for stricter enforcement of age regulations highlighting the responsibility that comes with holding a driver’s licence. Directors Simhachalam Harikrishna, Vangala Santosh Reddy, Ram Reddy, teachers, students and their parents attended the programme.
