PSU Oil Companies Ensure Uninterrupted Fuel Supply Amid Surge in Demand During Procurement Season in Telangana
HYDERABAD, MAY 25, 2026: Public sector oil marketing companies — Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited — are coordinating operations and logistics around the clock to ensure the uninterrupted availability of Petrol (MS), Diesel (HSD), and LPG across the state of Telangana.

Despite the sharp increase in fuel demand across various sectors, the supply chain continues smoothly. Recently, there has been a significant rise in demand for petroleum products due to intensified agricultural and harvesting activities, as major grain procurement operations are underway in Telangana during May 2026. Additionally, retail consumers of other suppliers are increasingly shifting towards public sector retail outlets because of competitive pricing. Institutional and commercial consumers are also favouring public sector retail outlets for the same reason.
During May 2026, fuel sales in Telangana showed strong growth, with Diesel (Retail) sales increasing by 12.6 per cent and Petrol (Retail) sales by 9 per cent — significantly exceeding the normal growth rate. Five districts in the state recorded more than 25 per cent growth in Diesel sales from PSU retail outlets, while 12 districts experienced growth between 15 and 25 per cent. In May, OMCs delivered over 37 lakh domestic LPG cylinders across Telangana.
Public sector oil marketing companies are continuously reviewing stock levels and meticulously coordinating logistics and distribution plans to effectively meet the rising demand. The oil industry assures consumers that sufficient stocks of Petrol, Diesel, and LPG are available throughout the state and that all necessary measures are being taken in ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and the state administration to maintain an uninterrupted, smooth supply.
Consumers are advised to rely solely on official information issued by authorised agencies and oil marketing companies for accurate updates on fuel availability.
