KCR’s poll bugle ‘Kadana Bheri’ for Lok Sabha elections in Karimnagar town failed to enthuse party rank and file

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 13, 2024: Bharath Rashtra Samithi formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi founder president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who had sounded poll bugle from the Karimnagar town by addressing a moderately attended public meeting called ‘Kadana bheri’ at the SRR college grounds on Tuesday evening for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, has failed to failed to enthuse the party rank and file

Mr Chandrashekhar Rao, who considers the Karimnagar town as the sentiment since the advent of TRS on April 27, 2001, had conducted the first public meeting of the party called ‘Simha garjana’ in the month of May 2001 at the SRR college grounds in Karimnagar town. During the period, the entire Karimnagar town was packed to the brim with the arrival of hordes of Telangana protagonists from various parts of the Telangana region and other parts of the country to extend their solidarity.

After the formation of the party, Mr Chandrashekhar Rao contested from the Karimnagar parliament constituency in 2004 elections with the support of the Congress party and won the elections. As part of the statehood movement, he had resigned to his MP seat in 2006 and 2008 and went for by-elections seeking the mandate of the people. Incidentally, in 2006 by-elections, he was re-elected with a thumping majority of more than 2.25 lakh votes. However, in the 2008 by-elections from the Karimnagar parliament constituency, his majority had declined to below 20,000 votes. Later, in the 2009 elections, he shifted to Mahabubnagar parliament constituency.

However, Mr Chandrashekhar Rao always considers Karimnagar district as his sentiment district for upholding the Telangana statehood movement all through thick and thin. Every elections, Mr Rao used to address a public meetings in the SRR college grounds as part of his sentiment.

Ironically, the Kadana bheri sabha organised at the SRR college grounds in Karimnagar town had evoked lukewarm response from the public and the party rank and file. The party leaders had tried a lot for the mobilization of the public from the integrated Karimnagar district. The womenfolk’s participation was miniscule in this meeting.

The party, which fared well in all the elections after the formation of separate Telangana state, was restricted to only few Assembly seats in spite of prevalence of sentiment. The existing BRS leaders had failed to mobilise the public for the meeting. Even the available crowd could not cheer much to Mr Chandrashekhar Rao’s speech as it lacked any ‘punches’ and sentimental dialogues.

Mr Chandrashekhar Rao, who usually visits the Telangana bhavan at Teegalaguttapalli on the outskirts of Karimnagar town for staying during his visit to Karimnagar, had visited Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar’s house in Karimnagar town and later on his return journey had a brief halt at LMD guest house on the outskirts of Karimnagar town.
