GDC women in Karimnagar town secures autonomous status from UGC

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 25, 2024: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred autonomous status for a period of 10 years for the prestigious Government Degree College for Women in Karimnagar town on Thursday.

Established in 1973 , the GDC women, which is celebrating its golden jubilee, was awarded autonomous status to design and offer their own undergraduate and postgraduate progarmmes, revise curricula as per the changing industry trends and introduce innovative teaching-learning methodologies.

This is the second government degree college in the integrated Karimnagar district to secure autonomous status after the SRR government arts and Science College in Karimnagar town. Incidentally, the college had secured NAAC grade earlier, which helped it to secure autonomous status. In the private sector, Jyothismathi institute of technology and sciences (JITS) secured the autonomous status in Karimnagar town.

It was a team work under the leadership of principal T Srilakshmi which helped the college to secure the autonomous status. Srilakshmi appreciated the hard work of heads of various departments, teaching and non-teaching staff and said the achievement was a result of collective efforts.
