Fresh Bus leads the way in slashing carbon emission; comprehensive study validates eco-friendly credentials

HYDERABAD, MARCH 28, 2024: In a world grappling with the urgent need for environmental action, Fresh Bus emerges as a beacon of hope. Their partnership with Climes for the avoidance of carbon emissions is a testament to their unwavering commitment to a future where sustainability reigns supreme.

Fresh Bus, a leading sustainable intercity travel service provider, has taken a monumental step forward in the fight against climate change. Teaming up with Climes, they embarked on a journey to measure and understand the true impact of their electric buses on carbon emissions throughout their lifecycle. The findings are nothing short of inspiring. The study has proven that Fresh Bus slashes CO2 emissions by a staggering 71% compared to conventional diesel buses.

Fresh Bus’s decision to adopt electric buses reflects their strong dedication to environmental responsibility, demonstrating their willingness to invest in sustainable infrastructure. They are setting a new standard and raising the bar for sustainable transit projects everywhere.

Holistic Approach to Sustainability

The heart of Fresh Bus’s sustainability journey lies in its holistic approach. Through meticulous analysis across three critical phases – operation, charging, and manufacturing & recycling – they have gained a profound understanding of their environmental footprint. For every 100 kilometres travelled, a Fresh Bus vehicle emits a mere 3.4 kg CO2 eq. per passenger, compared to the hefty  11.8 kg CO2 eq. emitted by diesel buses.

But it’s not just about the numbers on paper. Fresh Bus recognizes that the charging phase, while essential, generates the highest share of carbon emissions. That’s why they have prioritized sustainability across all operational facets, from waste treatment to end-of-life processing. Going beyond the basics, Fresh Bus aims to draw energy from sustainable sources, ensuring their dedication to a cleaner future remains unwavering. Their dedication extends even further; for every 100-kilometer journey, Fresh Bus saves a remarkable 370 kg eq. of CO2 emissions, paving the way for a brighter, cleaner future.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy Chirra, Founder & CEO of Fresh Bus, encapsulates the company’s ethos perfectly, he said, “The impact of emissions per individual in shared mobility systems is often underestimated. This study offers insight into how individual choices can influence the broader environmental landscape. While numbers are essential to communicate the significance, many find it hard to visualize the impact. Simply put into context, avoiding 370 kg of Carbon Emissions every 100 km has the same impact equivalent to planting 6 trees. We are determined to continue contributing towards the avoidance of carbon emissions and paving the path for a greener future.”

Anirudh Gupta, co-founder of Climes, emphasizes in his sentiment that, “Our planet’s pathway to a net-zero carbon balance begins with individuals and institutions understanding what our carbon emissions are, then decarbonizing what’s possible.” He adds, “Freshbus has shown that there’s no time to wait. They kicked off their effort by making electric buses the default choice for their customers, a decision that inherently promotes the avoidance of emissions compared to diesel-fueled buses. Then they went ahead to measure residual carbon emissions of that better choice too! This has now encouraged them to educate their key stakeholders on other small actions that can be taken to further help avoid emissions. There’s no one-size-fits-all pathway to a net-zero carbon future and Freshbus is showing that sustainability truly can be a default choice.”
