PEDDAPALLI, FEBRUARY 10, 2024: Burglars broke open two ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) belonging to State Bank of India (SBI) in the Godavarikhani coal belt area in the early hours of Saturday and made away with around Rs 27 lakhs in cash.
Police sources said that suspected burglars from the neighbouring Maharashtra state had made several ‘recee’ and conducted the offences by using gas cutters to break open the ATM machines. The burglars had broken the ATM machine at Gautami nagar by using gas-cutter and decamped with Rs 27 lakhs cash. The accused persons sprayed a chemical on the CCTV cameras to avoid their identification.
They also tried to break open an ATM of the SBI at Ganganagar locality. However, they disappeared from the spot from the movement of the people in the early hours. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused persons by tracing the video footages from other CCTV cameras in the coal belt.
