Telugu community in Germany celebrates Ugadi with religious fervour in Berlin

GERMANY, APRIL 07, 2024: The Telugu community in Germany celebrated Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, with religious fervour and gaiety at Sri Ganesh temple in Berlin, Germany, on Sunday.

Under the aegis of Telangana Association of Germany (TAG), the Ugadi was celebrated at the temple wherein over 200 families have attended the celebrations in traditional attire.  They prepared the traditional Ugadi pachhadi and ‘bakshalu’ and served among the visitors. The Telugu speaking people also decorated their houses with ‘thoranams’ and flower decorations.

Indian ambassador to Germany Parvathaneni Harish, Telangana Association President Dr Raghu Chaliganti led the celebrations supported by Vice-President Mr. Venkata Ramana Boinapally, Secretary Mrs. Alekya Boga, Cultural Secretaries Mr. Sharath Reddy and Mr. Yoganand, Treasurer Mr. Balraj Ande, and Social Media Secretaries Mr. Naresh and Mr. Natesh Gowd.

The heart of the event was the volunteer team, whose hard work brought traditional festivities, cultural performances, and community spirit to life. Their dedication ensured a seamless celebration of Ugadi, emphasizing renewal and cultural heritage.

The association thanks everyone involved, especially the volunteers, for making Ugadi memorable. This celebration not only marked a new year but also highlighted the strong community bonds and cultural pride within the Telugu diaspora in Berlin.
