KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 21, 2024: In the wake of nuisance being caused by the youngsters, who have been flouting traffic norms and causing noise pollution by installing modified silencers on their motorcycles, Commissioner of Police Abhishek Mohanty has directed the police officials to start a special drive to check the menace of modified silencers in the district.
Though, the police conducting surprise inspections and removing the modified silences from the motorcycles, but still it was ramphant with the youngsters fixing the silencers and causing nuisance in the town and causing sound pollution. The CP had instructed the police officials to warn the mechanics involved in replacing the factory-fitted bike silencers especially to Royal Enfield motorcycles in entire district.
Accordingly, the Inspectors of Karimnagar one town Sarilal, Vijay Kumar (two town) and Ravi (three town police station) have visited various parts of Karimnagar town and warned the mechanics of dire consequences if they fit the modified silencer and cause sound pollution in the town. They informed the mechanics that these illegal-altered silencers create loud noise, which triggers panic among residents and stated that they would impose heavy challans under the Motor Vehicles Act. They also instructed the shops selling the modified silencers of serious penal action if they flout the norms.
