Odisha cooperative officials to emulate the best practices of Karimnagar DCCB to run the cooperatives in profits

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 28, 2024: Officials of the Odisha state cooperative societies have said that they were privileged to visit the Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank, which has emerged as the country’s best cooperative bank in terms of governance, performance and introducing several reforms to reap riches.

A 25-member Odisha state cooperative officials’ team from its Directorate and Registrar of Cooperative societies led by Establishment officer Sida Majhi and others visited the Karimnagar DCCB in Karimnagar town on a study and exposure visit on Wednesday. They were received by CEO N Satyanarayana Rao, PACS development Cell Resource person G Satyanarayana and other officials.

The Odisha team was shown the functioning of the main administrative office and various departments. They also visited the main branch of the bank on the premises and inspected the functioning of the bank and locker facilities etc.  Later, a documentary film on the DCCB was exhibited for the benefit of Odisha team.

On this occasion, Odisha team members said: “Earlir, we have only learned about the KDCCB, which is the country’s best cooperative bank. Today, we are happy to visit the bank on a study and exposure visit and follow the best practices adopted by the KDCCB and implement in the DCCBs and PACS in Odisha state”.

They said that the cooperatives in the Odisha state were not progressing in spite of completing over 100 years of existence. The Karimnagar DCCB had shown us the ways to transform the cooperatives in Odisha state by taking up diversified activities and adopt technology and good governance, they stated.

Earlier, DCCB CEO N Satyanarayana Rao made a power point presentation on the steady progress of the DCCB and the PACS in the district by taking up diversified activities along with agriculture. He also informed that the KDCCB had emerged as a role model in the country in the computerisation of all PACS to ensure transparency and accountability and added that the Karimnagar computerisation model was being implemented by the Union government in all PACS in the country. He also explained about the diversified activities of lending loans for houses, education, MSMEs, and converting PACS into multi-service centres etc.
