KARIMNAGAR, JULY 23, 2024: In order to provide quality supply to the consumers, the Northern power distribution company limited (NPDCL) Karimnagar circle has installed 189 capacitor banks and additional 12 capacitor banks would be installed very soon.
In a statement here on Tuesday, NPDCL Karimnagar Superintending Engineer V Gangadhar said that the capacitor banks would prevent voltage fluctuations and it would avoid overloading at the transformers and the electricity lines. He said that they were installing 1 MVAr and 2 MVAr capacitors in the sub-stations.
Similarly, they had installed 600 KVR capacitors in the 11KVA lines to improve the power factor, he said and added that the capacitor banks would prevent the burning of agricultural pump sets and industrial feeders. He also that the power factor would improve considerably with reactive power compensation and added that the technical losses would be reduce and apparatus would function for a longer period.
He said that they were also encouraging the industrial consumers to fix capacitors so that the load on the transformer would be reduced and ensure smooth supply of power without causing any damages to the motors.
