KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 30, 2024: The police detain former Choppadandi legislator Sunke Ravishankar and other BRS leaders when they were on their way to participate in the ‘Gurukula bata’ , a visit aimed to visit the Telangana residential schools, hostels, KGBVs, Model schools, colleges etc on Saturday.
Following a call given by BRS working president and former Minister K Taraka Rama Rao to participate the social welfare hostels, the former Choppadandi and other BRS leaders were on their way to visit the hostels. However, the obstructed them and taken them into preventive custody and detained at Ramadugu police station.
Condemning the arrest, Mr Ravishankar demanded the police to disclose the reason for his arrest without any reason. Alleging that the Congress government had forced the residential educational institutions into crisis, he charged that around 52 students had died including 38 students due to food poisoning during the 11 months of Congress regime.
He flayed the government for not appointing the Education Minister and neglecting the crucial education sector. In the integrated Andra Pradesh state, only 1.54 lakh students studied in a total of 291 residential schools in the Telangana region, he said and added that the BRS government had opened a total of 1022 residential educational institutions and helped 6.10 lakh students due in comfortable atmosphere.
