KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 26, 2024: CPI district council member Paidipalli Raju has urged the state government to constitute a unified agency in Karimnagar on the lines of Hyderabad Disaster Response Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to protect the government lands and water bodies in the district.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Mr Raju alleged that land grabbers had encroached upon several lakes and ponds in and around Karimnagar town at Alugunur, Bommakal, Teegalaguttapalli, Arepalli, Seetharampur, Rekurthi, Kothapalli, Chintakunta and other villages. Alleging that the BRS leaders had resorted to the encroachment of the government lands and tanks during their regime, he urged the government to take stern action against the land sharks.

Charging that the BRS leaders had encroached on several lands in the villages which were merged with the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar, he alleged that the Revenue, irrigation and municipal authorities had colluded with the land grabbers and demanded action against the errant officials.

He also stated that the land grabbers were encroaching the LMD reservoir lands by constructing buildings, function halls, godowns and other structures. The land sharks were cleverly encroaching the reservoir lands by dumping gravel and stones and late collusion with revenue authorities were encroaching the government lands, he stated. He also demanded that Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar and incharge Minister Uttam Kumar should take measures for the constitution of KADRAA on the lines of HYDRAA to check encroachment of government lands and tanks in Karimnagar.
