Citizens urge MCK to launch night-sweeping and impose heavy fines on traders for dumping trash on the roads
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 26, 2024: Dumping of garbage and its burning on the roads have become a serious issue in various parts of Karimnagar town albeit the Smart City (not so Smart).
The garbage dumping on busy roads such as Tower Circle, Ambedkar stadium, residential colonies and all the roads is increasing every day in the fast-growing town. There is no exception even in front of the Collectorate and on its premises. The situation is worse at the vegetable market in front of Venkateshwara temple. Especially, the garbage is dumped by the traders and shopkeepers in front of their shops after closing their businesses at night. The roadside eateries and vegetable vendors also dump the leftovers on the roads.
When people wake up in the morning and go for a walk, jog or cycle, they are greeted with heaps of garbage dumped by the shoppers and other vendors on the roads. The garbage scattered on the roads is turning an eyesore and also emanating a pungent smell and causing health problems.
The citizens of the town have observed that the traders and others dump garbage on the road and go away without any responsibility to keep the city clean at least in front of their shop. They urged the municipal authorities to launch a special drive against the dumping of garbage on the roads and impose heavy fines.
As the MCK authorities and elected representatives claim that the Karimnagar town was transformed into a Smart City with several new lights have been installed in the entire town to remove darkness, the Lok Satta udyama samstha Karimnagar town convenor KS Narayana informed the MCK to launch night-sweeping in the town at least on all important thoroughfares to ensure that the city was clean. Or impose heavy fines on traders and others for dumping trash on the roads, he suggested and urged the authorities to launch a continuous drive so that the people would not dump garbage on the roads.
