
HYDERABAD, JUNE 05, 2025: World Environment Day was celebrated at Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, to create awareness about environmental protection on Thursday. The entire campus was adorned in vibrant shades of green. Students and teachers came together to mark the occasion, emphasising the importance of preserving and protecting our environment. To symbolize harmony with nature, staff wore green attire.
The Students presented the importance of the day through a song and skit, highlighting the need to protect our environment and spread awareness about sustainable living. The students of class 9 showcased their creativity and concern for the planet by presenting an engaging and thought-provoking skit on plastic pollution. The skit includes how plastic pollution affects the present and how it can harm the future, making it more impactful and informative. Mrs Jalaja social teacher, spoke about Khonoma, a village in Nagaland which is known as India’s first green village. She explained how the people of Khonoma protect their environment by banning hunting and conserving forests and wildlife. The speech inspired everyone to care more about the environment and work together to protect it. In addition to the celebrations, The School management organised a felicitation ceremony to honour the outstanding students of class 10 and class 12 for the academic year 2024-2025. The toppers were recognised for their hard work, dedication and excellent performance in their board examinations. This felicitation motivated everyone in the school to aim higher and work harder to achieve their goals.

The highlight of the celebration was a green plantation drive led by the Principal, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, who planted a sapling, setting an inspiring example for teachers and students. This symbolic act reinforced the importance of taking small but meaningful steps towards a greener future. The Principal urged all students and staff to avoid using single-use plastics like plastic bags, bottles and straws. She encouraged all of us to use eco-friendly alternatives. She reminded us that by reducing plastic use, we can protect our planet and make it cleaner and healthier for ourselves and future generations. NCC students of our school planted saplings around the school and nearby areas as a part of a plantation drive. Along with planting trees, they raised their voices with powerful slogans to inspire everyone to care for nature. The celebration concluded with a pledge to protect the environment and adopt greener habits.
The Chairman of our school Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani and Correspondent Rtn M. Harihara Prasad shared a special message with all the students and staff, remained everyone that the environment is our shared responsibility and that protecting it is not just a one-day effort, but a lifelong commitment and also encouraged the students to adopt eco-friendly habits and keeping the surroundings clean. The day is filled with awareness, action and a deep respect for Mother Earth.
