e-buses were introduced into the fleet of RTC in Karimnagar
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29, 2024: Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has formally flagged the e-buses in Karimnagar town on Sunday.
At a programme organised at Ambedkar stadium in Karimnagar town, the Minister along with legislators Kavvampalli Satyanarayana, Medipalli Satyam, Dr M Sanjay Kumar, TGSRTC MD VC Sajannar, Collector Pamela Satpathy, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, SUDA chairman K Narender Reddy and others participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prabhakar said that they had decided to introduce 500 e-buses throughout the state in the first phase. He said that they were taking all measures to ensure that there was not a single diesel bus in and around ORR of Hyderabad city. He said that there were measures to operate only e-buses in the entire Hyderabad city and spread to all the districts in a phased manner. The e-buses were being operated by signing a MoU with JBM firm to ensure a pollution-free environment, he stated.
Stating that the Mahalakshmi scheme of ensuring free travel in RTC buses had ensured that the women travelled Rs 3,200 crore worth of free travel in the state, he said that the demand for RTC buses had increased with Mahalakshmi scheme. He also said that they would purchase e-buses in association with the state government very soon. He promised to resolve the pending RTC employees issues such as PRC and compassionate employment etc.
RTC MD VC Sajjanar said that it was the happiest moment as the e-buses were launched in the historical Karimnagar city. He said that the Mahalakshmi scheme was launched 300 days back and so far more than 90 crore womenfolk had travelled in RTC buses. He said that they would soon launch e-buses in all the districts of the Telangana state. Karimnagar RTC regional manager N Sucharitha and others were also present.
