

GAJWEL, APRIL 08, 2025: A one-day international webinar on “Revisiting and Revitalizing Communicative Language Teaching in Undergraduate Classrooms in Telangana: Mapping the 20 Year Journey” to commemorate 20 years of Student Centered Teaching and Learning introduced by the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education and the US Department of State in 2005 was organised by the Government Degree College for Women, Gajwel, Telangana state on Tuesday.

The Department of English under the Chairmanship of Principal Prof Anita Abraham and Convener Ms Kamala Christiana conducted the webinar. Eminent Experts in the field of English Language Teaching and Learning, Mr Richard Boyum, Former Regional English Language Officer, US Embassy, India. Mr George Bishop Jr. English Language Fellow and Renowned American Author, Barbara Castleton, ELF Master Trainer, Professor, Seattle State University, Dr Max Arias, Professor, University of Costa Rica, Mr M Nagaraju, ELF Master Trainer and Former Principal shared their insights topics like “ Why Student Centered Learning “, “Designing Effective CLT Lessons”, “Adding Rocket fuel to CLT and Impact of CLT on Student Learning Outcome”, and “Teaching Language Skills and Assessment in CLT”.
The webinar provided a platform for participants to engage with the topics and share their experiences,s and learn from each other. 175 participants attended the webinar from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The webinar concluded with a call to action, emphasizing the need to continue collaboration in language teaching and learning. Participants expressed their appreciation for the webinar, citing its relevance and potential for the future of English Language Education in Telangana.
