KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 16, 2026: Officials of the Commissionerate of Police and Road Transport Authority (RTA) have seized 87 vehicles, including 17 school buses and 50 autorickshaws engaged in transportation of students without fitness certificates in Karimnagar district on Tuesday.
The authorities carried out a special checking drive within the commissionerate limits and seized vehicles being operated without fitness certificates and other required documents. Besides buses and autorickshaws, 64 other vehicles being operated without valid documents (registration, permit and insurance), without number plates, overloaded, or driven by drivers not in uniform were also seized. A total of 87 vehicles were booked for traffic rule violations. Drivers of the seized vehicles were educated about traffic rules at the Police Commissionerate office.
Participating in an awareness programme, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam said that the safety of every child was the responsibility of every citizen and made it clear that there was no question of excusing school vehicle drivers if they violated traffic rules. Vehicles must have fitness certificates and other required documents, he said, and warned of strict action against drivers found overspeeding, using mobile phones while driving, or consuming liquor. DCPs Yadagiri Swamy and Venkataswamy, Motor Vehicle Inspector G Kavitha, Traffic Inspector Anjaiah and others participated in the awareness programme.
