HYDERABAD, JANUARY 10, 2025: Tiny Tots of Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, celebrated the National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a Hindu monk, philosopher and spiritual, which is celebrated as National Youth Day on January 12 since 1984 onwards.
The National Youth Day is celebrated to honour the spiritual leader and to motivate the youth to create a better future for the country. National Youth Day 2025 theme is “Youth for a Sustainable Future: Shaping the Nation with Resilience and Responsibility”. This theme highlights the role of the youth in addressing issues like climate change, fostering innovation and advancing society.
Similarly, the students celebrated the ‘Makara Sankranti’, the festival of delicacies and togetherness on Friday. The mouthwatering cuisines made up of sesame and jaggery add sparks to the season’s festivity. The Sankranti festival remains incomplete without the kite flying activity which fills the sky with colourful kites and is enjoyed by people of every age group.
National Youth Day and Makara Sankranti celebrations began with great delight and good spirits.
The celebrations began with some of Swami Vivekananda’s great quotes and teachings. Students of class 2 dressed up like Swami Vivekananda and said a few words about him and some students delivered famous quotes about him and emphasized the importance of self-belief, and service to humanity.
The festivities continued with the celebration of Makara Sankranti, the harvest festival. Makara Sankranti marks the beginning of the sun’s journey towards the northern hemisphere.
Sankranti celebrations begin with an introduction to Sankranti followed by a worshipping song. Further, the celebrations continued with a skit exhibiting the importance of 3 days of Makar Sankranti i.e., Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma. Children showcased their outstanding acting and dancing skills in the skit. Bhogi mantallu (Bonfire) Bhogi pallu, offerings to Haridasu, Sankranti celebrations with flying the kites, cock fight and cattle puja all were perfectly and marvellously shown by the children. Finally, the program concluded with dance performances on Sankranti songs.
Principal of the school Dr.T.Lalitha Kumari, Chairman Dr Sudhakar Polsani and Correspondent of the school Rtn. M.Harihara Prasad applauded all the participants and wished everyone A National Youth Day and Happy Makara Sankranti.
Both celebrations provided a valuable learning experience for the students. They learned about the rich cultural heritage of India and the importance of preserving our traditions. The events fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie among the students and instilled in them the values of patriotism, compassion, and respect for all.
