DCA officials raid a quack’s clinic in Siddipet and seizes illegal drugs worth Rs 68,000

HYDERABAD, JANUARY 10, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a quack’s clinic and seized drugs worth Rs 68,000 stocked for sale at Kuknoorpally Village, Siddipet District. Since January 2024, the DCA has registered cases against 139 quacks for the illegal stocking and sale of drugs.

On credible information, the DCA officials raided the premises of a quack/unqualified practitioner D. Narsimlu, at  Kuknoorpally Village, Siddipet District, who was conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications at his clinic, on Thursday. During the raid, DCA officials detected 11 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, etc. stocked at the premises without a drug licence.

The DCA officials detected several ‘antibiotics’ viz. Cefixime, Cefpodoxime at the clinic during the raids. Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics, by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on public health, including the emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’. S. Vinay Sushmi, Drugs Inspector, Siddipet carried out the raid. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation will be carried out, and action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

The public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
