NIZAMABAD, MAY 15, 2026: The National Turmeric Board (NTB) organised a Farmer & FPO Awareness, Interaction and Market Linkage Programme at its headquarters in Nizamabad today. The event brought together turmeric farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) from Nirmal District along with NTB officials, supporting NGO and industry stakeholders to discuss cultivation practices, post-harvest management and market linkages.
Participants shared their on-ground experiences, challenges and expectations. Key issues discussed included availability of quality planting material, pest and disease management, scientific curing and polishing, storage solutions, and access to remunerative markets. Farmers emphasized the need for timely technical support, fair price realization and stronger market connections.
Bhavani Sri, Secretary, NTB briefed attendees on the Board’s schemes and support mechanisms, including subsidies for post-harvest machinery, training programmes, assistance for research and development, and other interventions aimed at improving post-harvest processing and marketing of turmeric.
A leading turmeric exporter attending the session underscored the importance of complying with GAP international quality standards. He highlighted cur cumin content as a key determinant of price, advising farmers that investments in quality at the farm level lead to improved returns.
NTB officials, together with partner NGOs, reiterated their commitment to provide continuous technical guidance and support to farmers and FPOs. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by lunch.
