Women’s Equality Day observed at GDC Gambhiraopet

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 27, 2024:  In a commendable initiative to honour the achievements and contributions of women, Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, celebrated Women’s Equality Day on Tuesday (August 27), marking a day of reflection, empowerment, and progress towards gender equality. The event was organized by the college’s Women Empowerment Cell, aimed to raise awareness about women’s rights and the continuing journey toward achieving equal opportunities in all spheres of life.

The day commenced with an inaugural address by Principal Prof. V.Vijaya Lakshmi, who emphasized the significance of the 19th Amendment in the United States, which granted women the right to vote and how that milestone continues to inspire equality movements worldwide. In her speech, she encouraged students to become active participants in promoting equity.

A series of activities, including panel discussions, poster presentation, were conducted. WEC Coordinator V. Vani, Academic Coordinator Prabhakar, IQAC Coordinator Anjaneylu, NSS programme Officer Dharmapuri, TSKC Coordinator Sravan, Adivishnu shared their insights and experiences, inspiring students to challenge stereotypes and break barriers.

In his remarks, the Principal highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of equality and respect in educational institutions. “Our commitment to gender equality is not just for a one-day event but an ongoing effort. By observing Women’s Equality Day, we reaffirm our dedication to creating an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, have equal opportunities to succeed,” she said.

The celebration also featured a Poster making by students .Students took an active role in organizing and participating in the events, which concluded with a pledge to continue advocating for equality and inclusivity both within the college and beyond.

This observance of Women’s Equality Day at college reinforces the institution’s mission to champion gender equality and create an inclusive academic environment where everyone can thrive.
