Police to invoke PD Act against the persons involved in the supply of fake seeds and fertilizers
PEDDAPALLI, MAY 19, 2024: The Ramagundam Commissionerate of Police is all set to crack down on the manufacturers of spurious seeds and fertilizers to protect the farmers from suffering huge losses during this monsoon season.
Accordingly, Ramagundam CP M Srinivas has constituted special Task Force teams who are already on the job of checking the supply of fake seeds and fertilizers in the commissionerate limits comprising of Peddapalli and Mancherial districts. The police had also opened check-posts and mobile check-posts to check infiltration of fake seeds and fertilizers from neighbouring states.
In a statement here on Sunday, Ramagundam CP Srinivas said that the supply of spurious seeds and fertilizers happens every year during the cultivation season from June. The Task force teams have been constituted to conduct surprise inspections of shops and godowns following tip-offs on the possible supply of spurious seeds, he stated
Besides, intelligence networks have been alerted for collection of information about transportation of spurious material from neighbouring states and vehicles are being checked, he informed.
“This time, we will make sure that no farmer is affected by the supply of spurious seeds,” he said, warning that PD Act would be invoked against those involved in the supply and transportation of spurious seeds in any part of the district. He has called upon local residents and farmers to alert the police if they notice any suspicious activities in this regard.
