University community joins nationwide observance under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
HYDERABAD, JUNE 21, 2026: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), led by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju, joined the global community today in observing the 12th International Day of Yoga, held this year under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
Faculty members, students, administrative officers, and staff of the Hyderabad campus came together for a collective session at the Multipurpose Sports Complex, underscoring yoga’s role in promoting physical and mental well-being across all stages of life.
The EFLU faculty, staff, and students at the two regional campuses in Lucknow and Shillong joined online to perform yoga on their respective campuses.
The day’s programme began with the live telecast of the address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, who led the national observance and described yoga as a timeless gift of India to the world. Participants then performed the Common Yoga Protocol, synchronising breath and movement in a shared expression of discipline and unity.

As part of the celebrations, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju presented the prizes to the winners, who had produced promotional videos on yoga, reflecting creative approaches to raising awareness of its benefits.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor noted that these contributions demonstrated the EFLU community’s commitment to advancing wellness practices.
The observance saw active participation from the Registrar, Ms. Sini Manchala; the Proctor, Prof. Shyam Rao Rathod; OSD to VC, Dr. Rajaram; Dean, CPD, Prof. T. Srivani, DSW, Prof. Sujatha, Academic and Administrative Deans, along with senior faculty members, research scholars, foreign students and non-teaching staff.
Participants also included students of the India Technical and Economic Cooperation Program (ITEC) – International Training Programme (ITP). Their collective involvement marked the day as one of harmony, well-being and renewal across the campuses.
