KARIMNAGAR, JULY 01, 2026: The All-India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), which represents employees of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) have formed a human chain to celebrate the 76th founding day of the AIIEA in front of the LIC Divisional office in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
The employees from all cadres—representing the Karimnagar Divisional Office as well as Branches 1 and 2—participated in this event. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shiva Naga Prasad, Senior Divisional Manager of LIC Karimnagar, commended the initiative undertaken by the AIIEA to build a strong LIC and a strong India. He highlighted that since 1956, LIC has grown steadily and contributed significantly to India’s economic self-reliance, acknowledging the commendable efforts of LIC employees, agents, and marketing staff in this journey.
It was noted that LIC continues to perform well even in a competitive market, and a call was made for all employees to put in greater effort to sustain this performance. Speaking on the occasion, ICEU President A Rammohan Rao explained that, as part of the concluding celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee, the All India Insurance Employees Association has decided to organise human chains at all offices under the slogan “A Strong LIC for a Strong India.”

Recalling the remarks made by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who stated that as long as a strong LIC remained in the public sector, the likelihood of economic instability in India would be low, he noted that India’s ability to withstand the 2008 global financial crisis was made possible precisely because of the public sector LIC and banks.
It was stated that it is regrettable that the insurance regulator, IRDA, is introducing various measures to undermine the public-sector LIC, and that it has noted foreign companies lining up for insurance licences following the approval of 100% FDI.
They also pointed out that the government is attempting a further 6.5% disinvestment in LIC, noting that this would yield no benefit to either the organisation or the policyholders. Furthermore, they demanded the immediate recruitment of personnel in Class-3 and Class-4 cadres to ensure the delivery of quality services.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional General Secretary V. Vaman Rao expressed his appreciation to the Senior Divisional Manager, other officials, employees across all categories, and members of all unions who participated in the human chain organised for this historic event.
