GDC Women Karimnagar Launches Teaching Internship under Anna Akka Mentorship Programme

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 01, 2026:  Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar, on Wednesday,  launched the Teaching Internship on AI & Digital Learning under the Government of Telangana’s prestigious Anna Akka Mentorship Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital literacy, and experiential learning among school students through trained degree students.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof. D. Vara Lakshmi informed that the college has 718 final-year students and 35 Government schools have been allotted to the institution for implementing the internship programme. In the first phase, 182 final-year students have been mapped to 12 Government schools, where they commenced their internship on July 1, 2026.

The students have been deployed to PMSHRI ZPHS, Durshed; Government High School, Kummariwada; KGBV Karimnagar; KGBV Sultanabad; Government High School (Girls), Doctors Street; URS Karimnagar; Government High School, Savaran Street; Government High School (Girls), Mukarampura; Government High School (Girls), Gunj; Government High School (Girls), Shahsaheb; Government UPS Shahsaheb (Urdu Medium), Kashmirgadda; and Government High School, Shahsaheb.

The Principal stated that the student interns will visit their allotted schools three days a week and conduct two-hour AI and Digital Learning sessions for 15 days using the Telangana CodeMitra Digital Education Platform. The remaining final-year students will be mapped to the other allotted schools in the next phase to ensure successful implementation of the programme across all 35 schools.

Prof. D. Vara Lakshmi expressed confidence that the internship would not only enhance digital learning among school students but also provide degree students with practical teaching experience, leadership skills, communication abilities, and hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.

The Principal appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Nodal Officers, R. Mogili,  M. Kalpana, and  J. Swapna, for efficiently completing the student mapping process and coordinating school allotments. She congratulated the team for the successful launch of the programme and urged them to continue the same commitment to ensure its smooth and successful completion in all the allotted schools.

The college reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Government of Telangana’s vision of creating a digitally empowered and AI-ready generation through meaningful collaboration between higher education institutions and schools.
