KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 21, 2024: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has extended solidarity to the Mala community mahapadayatra in Telangana state, who are opposing the categorization of Scheduled Castes.
The Union Minister, who was on a private visit to Siddipet district, stopped his convoy after noticing the padayatra taken by Malas of the state led by its state president Pilli Sudhakar on Thursday. Mr Sudhakar has embarked upon a 1,000-kilometre padayatra opposing the categorization of the SCs in the Telangana. On this occasion, the Mala leader felicitated the Union Minister by presenting him with a shawl.
On this occasion, the Mala leaders have urged the Union Minister to stop the process of categorization of SCs. They suggested the government constitute a nine-member judges bench in the Supreme Court on SC categorization and appealed to the court to rethink its decision on categorization.
The Union Minister had responded positively to the Mala community leader’s pleas and assured to discuss the matter with the government. Mala community national general secretary Bairi Ramesh, state general secretaries Medi Anjaiah and Venna Raju, state working president Chippala Narsingrao, state politburo chairman Ryakam Sriramulu, state disciplinary committee chairman Udandapuram Satyanarayana, state coordinator Bhyagari Venkat Swamy, state Jai Bheem sainik dal convenor Asadi Purushotham, state vice president N Ravikanth, state secretaries Butti Satyanaryana, Aluka Devaiah, leaders Jakkula Raju, M Yadagrri, Kishore and others were also present.
