NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 21, 2024: Mr K Sanjay Murthy assumed office as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India on Thursday.
At a ceremony held in the Ganatantra mandap, Rashtrapathi Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Mr Sanjay Murthy. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar was also present.
A 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Murthy succeeds Girish Chandra Murmu, who demitted office on Wednesday. Before he was appointed CAG, Murthy served as secretary, of the Department of Higher Education, in the Ministry of Education. He also served as additional secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs; as CEO of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation; and as joint secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Before his tenure at the Centre, Murthy has served in the Himachal Pradesh government.
