NEW DELHI, JUNE 12, 2024: Nitin Gadkari took charge as the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways in New Delhi on Wednesday. Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra also took charge as Ministers of State.
Nirmala Seetharaman assumed charge as the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs. On this occasion, she thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reposing faith on her. She said that the government was fully committed to ensure ‘Ease of Living’ for its citizens and will continue to take further steps in this direction.
After assuming charge, the Union Minister was briefed on the ongoing policy issues by the secretaries of the different departments of the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. She said that the reforms undertaken since 2014 will continue, which will further provide macroeconomic stability and growth for India. She also highlighted India’s commendable growth story in recent years amidst global challenges and noted that there is an optimistic economic outlook for the coming years. He urged the officials to advance the NDA government’s development agenda with renewed vigour and sure responsive policy making to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Somanna took over as the Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti. After taking charge, the Minister expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for trusting him with the responsibility of the Ministry and stated, “The last 10 years have witnessed remarkable growth under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi”. The Minister expressed firm determination to continue the momentum of development in the third term of the government.
He said that over 11 crore rural households added to piped water supply in the last five years and over 93 per cent of India’s village made open defecation free (ODF) plus. He said that they would strive to bring all the village in ODF plus model category by March 2025.
Jyotiraditya M. Scindia assumed charge as Union Minister in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. Dr. Majumdar, Minister of State in the Ministry of DoNER along with the senior officers of DoNER Ministry welcomed the Union Minister. After assuming the charge, Mr Scindia met the senior officials of the ministry and reviewed the schemes.
While interacting with the media, Scindia said that the Prime Minister has always prioritized the North Eastern region, and we are committed to realizing the Prime Minister’s vision. He said that it is our commitment to accelerate the development of this region and establish new benchmarks for modern development.
