Government doctors staged protests by wearing black badges on Monday
JAGTIAL, MAY 07, 2024: Even as the Doctors of the Jagtial district and other districts were planning to intensify agitations against the alleged attacks on the medical fraternity by the hooligans and demanding protection to doctors, the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad has suspended Korutla Area hospital Duty doctor Dr V Shravan Kumar over charges of medical negligence that led to the death of an auto-driver on Sunday.
It may be recalled that the auto-driver Nazibar Rahaman, who suffered a severe sun stroke on Sunday afternoon, was shifted to the Korutla Area hospital for treatment. Within short time, he passed alleged due to medical negligence. Irked over this, the locals including his family attacked the doctor, who rushed and took shelter in a room. However, the agitators tried to immolate him by dousing petrol in to the chambers. But, the timely intervention by the police could avoid a major mishap. On the other, the protestors ransacked the hospital furniture and abused the medical fraternity with filthy language and threatened with dire consequences.
The doctors at the Korutla area hospital staged a dharna by wearing black badges demanding protection against the alleged attacks from hooligans. They also abstained from discharging their duties. The doctors affiliated to IMA chapters in Karimnagar, Jagtial and other districts also extended solidarity to the agitating doctors.
In a shocking development, TVVP commissioner Dr J Ajaya Kumar issued orders suspending Duty doctor Dr V Shravan Kumar alleging medical negligence without any inquiry. Dr Shravan Kumar will continue to remain under suspension until the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings/termination of all proceedings relating to the criminal charges.
The suspension has not gone down well with the members of Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA). “Dr Shravan was suspended without even conducting a proper inquiry into the development. They flayed the government for not taking any measures for the protection of the doctors from the hooligans and reminded that the protestors had even tried set afire the doctor by dousing petrol into his room when he rushed and took shelter in the room from the physical attacks. The doctors threatened to intensify the agitations.
