Bandi is the second BJP leader after Ch Vidyasagar Rao to become Union Minister from Karimnagar parliament constituency
He was reelected from Karimnagar parliament constituency with an all-time record majority of over 2.25 lakh majority in the recent elections
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 09, 2024: Firebrand Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the two times winner from Karimnagar parliament constituency, is all set take charge as the Union Minister led by newly elected National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening.
The BJP high command had chosen Telangana BJP state president and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP National General Secretary and former Telangana state party president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar for the Union Ministers posts and they would take oath as the Minister on Sunday evening at Rashtrapathi bhavan in New Delhi.
Mr Sanjay Kumar, a staunch RSS activist, was the BJP municipal corporator in Karimnagar town, till he had become MP from Karimnagar parliament constituency in the year 2019. He was chosen as the party Karimnagar assembly candidate by then Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao in 2014 elections. During the elections, Mr Vidyasagar Rao had lost, but Mr Sanjay Kumar secured second position in the assembly segment.
Mr Sanjay Kumar was again fielded from the Karimnagar assembly segment in 2018 elections and this time also he secured second position. Later, in 2019 elections, he defeated the senior politicians BRS sitting MP B Vinod Kumar and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar. He again contested from Karimnagar assembly segment in 2023 elections, but lost. In the recent 2024 elections, Mr Sanjay Kumar had set a record in the Karimnagar parliament constituency by winning with a thumping majority of over 2.25 lakhs which is an all-time record in Karimnagar parliament constituency.
Mr Sanjay Kumar had ensured that the BJP had improved its position in GHMC elections and also win two by-elections from Dubbaka and Huzurabad assembly segments. He was instrumental in expanding the BJP’s footprint in the Telangana state with his aggressive stance.
Incidentally, he is the second BJP leader from the integrated Karimnagar district to secure berth in the Union cabinet after senior BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao. The Karimnagar district party rank and file are upbeat over the selection of Mr Sanjay Kumar for the Union Minister post. The party leaders are expecting unprecedented developmental activities in the district under the leadership of Mr Sanjay Kumar as Union Minister.
