All set for counting of votes at SRR college in Karimnagar on June 4

First round results will start trickling from 9 am onwards

A total of 116 tables and 153 rounds of counting for seven segments 

Section 144 invoked the Commissionerate of police limits

Traffic diversions, liquor shops close

KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 03, 2024:  Stage is all set for the counting of votes for the Karimnagar parliament constituency on Tuesday (June 4) at the SRR government arts and science college in Karimnagar town. The counting of votes would begin with the postal ballots at 8 and the first round results will start trickling in from 9 am onwards.

A total of 28 candidates contested the elections, however the main contenders are Bandi Sanjay Kumar (BJP), Velichala Rajender Rao (Congress) and B Vinod Kumar (BRS). Out of a total of 17,97,150 voters in the parliament constituency, 13,03,690 (72.54 per cent) exercised their franchise in 2194 polling stations spread over seven assembly segments. The authorities have set up 116 tables for the counting of votes. There would be a total of 153 rounds of counting including Karimnagar assembly segment 22 rounds, Choppadandi 24 rounds, Vemulawada (19)), Sircilla (21), Manakondur (23), Huzurabad (22) and  Husnabad segment (22).

Section 144 imposed

Following the counting of votes, Commissioner of Police Abhishek Mohanty invoked prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC from 6 am on June 4 to 6 am on June 5 in entire Commissionerate limits of Karimnagar district. People told avoid congregation in groups of more than five members. All the liquor shops, bars and toddy shops would be closed on Tuesday.

Similarly, the Traffic would not be allowed on SRR government degree college road till the completion of counting votes from 6 am on June 4 onwards. The traffic coming from Jagtial to Karimnagar would be diverted via Rekurthi cross roads, Satavahana University and Padmanagar. The vehicles proceeding from Karimnagar town Jagtial road would be diverted by via district courts, Jyothinagar, Chemist bhavan, Satavahana University and  Rekurthi cross roads.
