Karimnagar Police launch drive against black films in cars

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 05, 2024: With the onset of summer, tinted glass in cars have made a comeback. In order to check it, the city police have launched a drive, challaning a number of vehicles besides peeling off black films in Karimnagar town on Monday.

The Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the use of black films of any Visual Light Transmission (VLT) or any other material (such as curtains or mesh) upon safety glasses, window screens and side glasses of all vehicles, irrespective of the percentage of visual light permitted or blocked, throughout the country.

However, a number of four-wheelers with black films having VIP and police stickers can be seen plying on roads with impunity. Sometimes these vehicles are also used by anti-social elements to run away after committing crimes. Private buses are no exception.

Under the supervision of Karimnagar Traffic ACP Md Sarwar, the Traffic police have launched a special drive in various parts of Karimnagr town. They had removed the black films from 50 cars and imposed e-challans. He instructed the car owners to strictly adhere to the norms and not to fix black films to the windows of the cars and warned of serious action.

On this occasion, the ACP instructed the people to follow the traffic rules and regulations and avoid penal action. Traffic inspectors Ramesh and Karimullah Khan, sub inspectors Ishaq and Shanigala Srikanth and others were also participated in the special drive.

Ironically, Karimnagar MLA and former Minister Gangula Kamalakar’s car is also having black screen to his car and goes scot-free in the district in general and Telangana state in parrticular.
