Unofficial power cuts ramphant in rural areas of Jagtial district

Congress leaders allege some field-level officials were deliberately causing power cuts to tarnish the image of government

JAGTIAL, APRIL 23, 2024: Unofficial power cuts have become order of the day in various parts of the rural areas in the Jagtial district to blame the Congress government during the parliament elections.

Though, there is no demand for power in the farm sector following the completion of harvesting of the paddy produce and other crops, still the power cuts have increased in the villages mostly in Buggaram mandal for the domestic consumers causing several woes to the people during the peak summer season.

As all the elected representatives in the Buggaram mandal belong to the BRS, the ‘intentional’ power cuts were being imposed to blame the Congress government, said the villagers. A villager from Buggaram said that there are daily three to four hours power cuts during the day time. He said that the BRS leaders were influencing the villagers saying that the power cuts are due to the Congress government and there were no power cuts during the BRS regime.

It may be recalled that MLC T Jeevan Reddy had to face an embarrassing situation in the first week of March at an official government programme of distribution of Kalyana Lakshmi cheques in Jagtial town as there was no power supply. In spite of the MLC calling the electricity officials, the power supply was restored only after half an hour.

Freshly, the unofficial power outages are haunting the Congress contestant from Nizamabad parliament constituency and MLC T Jeevan Reddy. The Congress leaders alleged that the electricity officials in the field level were deliberately causing power cuts only to tarnish the image of the Congress party.
