KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 25, 2025: There are several instances of film actors, sportspersons, athletes and others experiencing heart attacks, including while exercising, have been reported, such as the deaths of Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, and TV actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi, and others sparking discussions about the potential role of exercise and lifestyle factors.

In an interview with this www.hindudayashankar.com on Tuesday, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Renee Hospital, in Karimnagra town, Dr Dinakar Thatimatla said that the youth should go in for preventive health check-ups every year as heart attacks could come suddenly due to their stressful and sedentary lifestyle. The people who experience chest discomfort, heartburn, sweating, are unable to walk, and other symptoms should not be neglected, and they should be rushed to the nearest hospital for an ECG and other tests for the detection of heart ailments.
Of late, the heart attacks have become common among the youth below 30 years and even below 20 years due to their sedentary lifestyle and smoking and consumption of liquor, he said and informed the people to take preventive measures of conducting ECG and 2D echo tests yearly once and diabetes and BP tests every two to three months and proper medication.
The doctor said that even regular gym goers need to be careful not to do physical exercises with only a few hours of sleep. Those who want to undergo gymming should first undergo a cardiac evaluation, he said and added that the problem is that small plaque deposits in the blood vessels that are usually considered benign (in comparison with well-defined blockages) can rupture with sudden activity by gymming, running, lifting of weights or undertaking a high-stress assignment.
Dr Diwakar suggested that people avoid red meat and walk at least 30 minutes a day for five days a week, reduce fatty food content and packaged food. He also informed the people to sleep at least eight hours for a healthy life.
On the recent social media propaganda of slapping on the hands and clasping could avoid heart attacks, the Doctor said that they are also myths and advised people not to believe the myths. He said that the heart blocks should not be avoided, and they would occur for everyone in the world.
He also clarified that heart attacks would come to the patients who have already undergone treatment if they stop the prescribed medication of blood thinners and cholesterol tablets, etc. However, he said that the patients, who had undergone heart ailments, are leading a disciplined lifestyle with proper medication and regular health check-up.
