PEDDAPALLI, AUGUST 31, 2024: The irrigation authorities have decided to open flood gates of the Sripada Yellampalli project following the project receiving copious inflows due to incessant rains in its catchment areas on Saturday.
Executive Engineer of the project G Swamy said that the floodgates of the Yellampalli project would be lifted anytime on Friday night and alerted the villagers of downstream of the project not to venture into the river. He appealed to the farmers and others not to take cattle, sheep and goats into the project. The revenue and police officials have sounded alerted and doing tom-tom in the villages downstream of the project.
The SYP had received total inflows of 18.0637 tmcs against its full storage capacity of 20.175 tmcs. The project was receiving inflows of 14,302 cusecs from its catchment areas. The outflow of the project was 6580 cusecs by lifting water through the Nandi pump house to the Mid Manair dam.
