HYDERABAD, AUGUST 02, 2024: Singareni Collieries Company Limited chairman and managing director N Balaram has made a tripartite agreement for the exploration and development of a geothermal power project in Manuguru with the ONGC director Sushma Rawat and Telangana state REDCO general manager Satya Varaprasad at Singareni bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday.
The SCCL had already started generation of 20 Kilowatts of Geo-thermal power project on a pilot basis at Manuguru. As part of the agreement, the ONGC would take up investigations and exploration works to take up the generation geo-thermal power project. The TS REDCO would secure all necessary environmental clearances for the project and the SCCL would provide all logistics for the project.
Already, the SCCL had taken up a pilot to generate about 20 kilowatts of power through a geothermal power project with the availability of hot springs found in the Singareni coal mining areas of Manuguru region in Badradri Kothagudem region.
SCCL chairman N Balaram said that the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had stated that there was every possibility of producing 122 megawatts of geothermal power station in Manuguru. ONGC director Sushma Rawat said that the Manuguru in the Singareni region would emerge as the country’s biggest geothermal power station. Stating that along with the generation of geothermal power at Munuguru, she said that there was the possibility of producing helium from the region if there was more research.
TS REDCo general manager Satya Varaprasad said that the Telangana state government was encouraging the generation of clean and green energy. Singareni directors D Satyanarayana Rao, NVK Srinivas, G Venkateshwar Reddy, general manager SDM Subhani, general manager (coordination) G Devender, ONGC GGM Gopal Joshi, general manager Sanjay Kumar Mukherjee, chief manager Ramesh Satla, Anup Bharadwaj and others were also present.
