IMA Karimnagar chapter conducts a medical camp for the detection of cancer among MCK employees

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 04, 2025: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter, in association with the Karimnagar Obstetrics and Gynecology Society (KOGS), Women’s Doctors Wing (WDW) and Karimnagar Radiologists and Imaging Association (KRIA) conducted a screening camp for the detection of cervical and breast cancer for the Municipal sanitation staff of MCK in Karimnagar town on the occasion of World Cancer Day on Tuesday.

The medical camp was inaugurated by Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai along with District Medical and Health Officer Dr K Venkata Ramana and others. A total of 150 women municipal staff participated in the cancer screening camp. Municipal Assistant Commissioner Venu Madhav and Municipal Engineer Swamy and others personally supervised the success of the camp. On this occasion, a poster to educate the people on cervical cancer was also released by the dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, MCK Commissioner Bajpai thanked the noble gesture of the IMA Karimnagar chapter for providing an awareness programme on cancer and conducting a free medical camp to detect breast and cervical cancer. She said that the early detection of cancer would cure the disease and keep the person happy and healthy forever.

DMHO Dr Venkata Ramana talked in detail about defining a dreadful disease like cancer as well as its types, symptoms, causes and timely treatment. Apart from this, he also provided information about the types of cancer being found in different age groups, especially in women like cervical cancer, chest cancer oral cancer etc. While talking about cervical cancer, he highlighted its symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment.

IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Anamalla Naresh said that thousands of women die from the cancer disease and added that its early detection and treatment are crucial. He said that the women can go on living a healthy life without complications if treated at an early stage. He said that many women face breast problems but hesitate to report them to the hospital while the disease keeps progressing.

Cancer specialist Dr Vamshi Chetana, KOGS Secretary Dr Nayani, and IMA treasurer Dr Ch Vijay Kumar enlightened the participants about the importance of HPV vaccination to protect from cancer.  They also explained in detail about the causes, signs and symptoms of cervical cancer. The doctors also talked about menstrual hygiene and its importance for cervical cancer.

Doctors M Vijayalakshmi, Dr Rekha Rani, Dr Padma, Anamalla Sridevi, Sujitha, Sana, Tatvika, Adepu Shailaja, Jyothi, Manasam, Swapna, Chaitanya. Sesha Shailaja, Radhika and other junior doctors were also present. IMA district president Dr A Naresh, secretary Dr S Naveen Kumar and treasurer Ch Vijay Kumar promised to provide free scanning and other services to the women, who attended the cancer detection camp.
