

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 04, 2025: Awareness was given to the students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Shatrajpalli, Vemulawada of Rajanna Sircilla district on cancer on the occasion of World Cancer Day on Tuesday.


Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Dr S Deepthi MD General Medicine (General Physician) Area Hospital Vemulawada, apprised the students that World Cancer day is an international day to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. Cancer awareness has become exceedingly important, Dr Deepthi said that the primary goal of the day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer
Cancer prevention is action to lower the risk of getting cancer, she said and added that this can include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding exposure to known cancer-causing substances and taking medicines or vaccines that can prevent cancer from developing.
Principal K Lavanya stated that despite advancements in cancer treatment everyone is not able to receive it and we can reduce the gap by providing better knowledge and equal health services to each patient. K Anusha, HoD, Department of Zoology, conducted Quiz, Seminar and Book Reading on Cancer awareness to the students. Vice Principal B Sumalatha and other faculty members participated in the programme.
