Condemning attack on medical fraternity, Govt Area hospital doctors boycott their duties in Korutla

JAGTIAL, MAY 06, 2024: The doctors working at the Government Area Hospital, Korutla, in Jagtial district, have boycotted their duties by wearing black badges and staged protest dharnas against the attack on medical fraternity on Monday.

Reports reaching here said that the some persons had bought a patient, who is an auto-driver, suffering from sunstroke on Sunday afternoon to the hospital. When the doctors were attending to their duties and trying to treat the patient, the patient died while undergoing treatment. Irked over this, the alleged mob had ransacked the hospital and attacked the doctors and para-medical staff alleging that the patient had died because of their negligence.

The mob also tried to set ablaze a doctor by dousing fuel in his room where he took shelter from the attacks. However, a large posse of police swung into action and avoided major casualties by dispersing the mob.

Condemning the attack on the medical fraternity, the government doctors staged a dharna in front of the hospital in Korutla and abstained from discharging their duties on Monday. The Korutla IMA chapter had also lodged complaint with Korutla police demanding stern action against the accused persons.

Karimnagar IMA chapter president Dr Polasa Ram Kiran condemned the attack on the doctors and the government hospital. Demanding arrest and stringent action against the accused persons involved in the attack on hospital and doctors, he demanded the government to disclose the details of action taken against the accused persons. IMA district general secretary Dr G Venkat Reddy, THANA president Dr N Mahesh, secretary Dr Sridhar and others also demanded stringent action against the accused persons.
