2K run for awareness on Vote conducted in Karimnagar town

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 04, 2024:  A 2K run was organised in Karimnagar town as part of voters’ awareness event under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme from Ambedkar stadium to the Circus grounds in Karimnagar town on Thursday.

Collector Pamela Satpathy had formally flagged off the 2K run and participated in the rally along with scores of people. On this occasion, the Collector said that the SVEEP was a major programme of the Election Commission of India to promote voter education, awareness and literacy in India.

“The primary objective of SVEEP is to create a participatory democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during elections,” she said. She added that people’s participation in the election process laid the foundation of a strong democratic system. Therefore, voters must exercise their voting right in any election process.

Stating that around 30,000 new voters were enrolled as voters in the district, she called upon the new voters to exercise their franchise. She also informed the voters enrolment would be conducted till April 15 and informed the eligible persons to enroll as voters. Additional Collector Praful Desai, SVEEP nodal officer and Mining dept AD Ramachary, DYSO Srikanth Reddy, MEPMA PD Ravinder, RDO K Maheshwar, SC Corporation ED Nagarjuna, Social welfare officer Nathaneil, DWO Saraswathi, district Olympic association secretary Janardhan Reddy, President Award winner Anjana Reddy and others were also present.
