RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 15, 2025: Buoyed over the successful campaign of ringing ‘water bells’ to fight against dehydration, the Zilla Parishad High School, Jillela, Rajanna-Sircilla district, has freshly launched campaign against the use of plastic in the school and educating the students and parents to discourage the use of pollution-causing plastic on Saturday.

Thanks to the campaign by the faculty members and the support of philanthropists, the ZPHS Jillela had ensured that the school uses only stainless steel, and there was no use of plastic on the school premises, and it was declared as ‘plastic-free. ’ With the support of philanthropists, the school provided stainless steel water bottles, steel pots, earthen pots, steel dustbins, etc.
At a programme organised with the parents on Saturday, the teachers had enlightened them the importance of discouraging plastic and checking the spread of cancer and other diseases. The faculty empowered the parents about the use of cloth bags and steel or aluminum containers instead of plastic bags to check the spread of diseases. On this occasion, the school management had presented the parents with jute bags.
ZPHS Jillela headmaster Joginapalli Anuradha proudly said that the school had completely banned plastic on its campus. She said that the polythene (plastic bag) was a non-biodegradable product and could be eliminated without damaging the environment by avoiding its usage.
“When eatables are carried in plastic, the chemicals get mixed in it. So, polythene bags make food items poisonous. If animals chew them, they go to their abdomen and cause them severe pain and even leads to their death.” She advised the students and parents that instead of these plastic bags, they must use bags made of cloth and paper. Faculty members Rajeshwar Rao, Sharada, Ramesh, Shailaja, Sirisha, Padma, Ravinder Reddy, Samatha, Santosh and others were also present.
