KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 19, 2024: Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) state Chief Advisor Yadagiri Shekhar Rao has stressed the need for enactment of the Teachers Protection Act to protect the private and government teachers from attacks and manhandling by the parents and others.
Expressing concern over the incidents of parents and others attacking private school teachers even if they abuse the students as part of discipline, he said that it had become a growing concern in society as the teachers were unable to even teach good values and discipline among the students. He reminded that the teachers were strictly following the ban on corporal punishment and only using some harsh words to set the child right. If that is the case, who will mend the students, he asked.
The TRSMA state leader, who is also a contestant from the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency in the ensuing MLA elections, told newsmen here on Tuesday that the government should enact a special law for the protection of teachers from hooligans on the lines of Advocates and Doctors. He also sought Rs 10 lakh insurance and Rs 10 lakh medical insurance coverage for all the private school teachers.
Finding fault with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for humiliating the private school teachers during a meeting in Hyderabad, Mr Shekhar Rao said that more than 58 per cent of students were studying in private schools and excelling in all competitive examinations. He reminded that all the private school teachers were well-qualified and the CM should treat the private and public schools equally in the mixed economy of the country.
Exuding confidence in his victory in the ensuing MLC elections from the Karimnagar Graduates constituency, he refuted the reports that he would withdraw from the contest at the last minute. He reiterated that he would contest the elections and would win and serve the graduates and strive to fulfil their long-pending demands.
Claiming that there was an overwhelming response to his electioneering in Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts, he said that all sections of society were supporting his candidature. He extended solidarity to the striving private degree colleges demanding the release of long-pending fee reimbursement dues.
He expressed concern over the non-release of retirement benefits to government employees and teachers. Later, the TRSMA leader conducted a meeting with the correspondents of various private schools and chalked out strategies for the enrolment of left-over graduates from November 23 to December 9, 2024.
