HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 02, 2024: The Geological Survey of India (GSI), State Unit: Telangana, Southern Region, Hyderabad, conducted Swachhata Hi Seva, a mega cleanliness drive programme at Geo-tourism site, Pandavulagutta on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi on Wednesday.
The event inaugurated was by J. Vasantha, District Forest Officer, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally District and Nagaraju, Forest Range Officer as guest of honour, the DFO addressed the gathering about the importance of Swatchhata Hi Seva in the country as desired by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. Swachhata Hi Seva special campaign with a theme Swabhav-Swachhata, Samskar-Swachhata to be celebrated throughout the country from 24th September 2024 to 01st October 2024 which will be concluded with Swachhata Diwas celebration on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.
She also stated that the cleanliness programme is an integral and ongoing initiative that seamlessly integrates into the daily lives of individuals spanning from their homes to workplaces. Its primary objective is to cultivate and maintain a hygienic environment, thereby fostering a healthy lifestyle. She expressed her happiness for being part of this special campaign celebration of the SHS program at Pandavulagutta which falls in Jakaram-I, Reserved Forest and was recently declared as a Geo-tourism/Geo-heritage site by the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
Vasantha also stressed that the developmental and protection activities were proposed to the government of Telangana to promote the area in Geo-tourism in future. She also requested to Geological Survey of India to extend their possible financial aid in respect to the protection of the sole Nation Geo-tourism site of Telangana State. The Range officer also emphasized the importance of trees and their vital role in maintaining the ecological balance and promoting sustainable development and community well-being. In this event, the opening remarks is given by A. Anil Kumar, Director, GSI, Telangana. He outlined the geological and historical importance of the Pandavulagutta and also explained the process involved in the formation of these spectacular Pandavulagutta rocks. During the event, Sachin, Director and Head of Office and Senior Scientists, Ramesh Gunda, Dr. Samala Ramesh, and Scientists Gowthami Veeragattapu, Chayanika Mech, Chiranjit, Vipin, Gomuk, GSI, Telangana and also Forest Range Officer, Nagaraj, other officials and Students from Geetanjali School, Kukatpally Hyderabad attended.
