Power supply was disrupted for the whole night on Tuesday
Several trees and electric poles were uprooted

Union Minister visited the Vaddera colony and inspected the damaged and uprooted houses
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 27, 2026: High-velocity winds accompanied by heavy rain caused widespread destruction across the entire Karimnagar town and adjoining areas on Tuesday, damaging property, uprooting trees, disrupting power supply and severely affecting normal life in several parts of town.
Trees and electric poles were uprooted in several parts of the town, including the Collectorate office complex. The storm damaged rooftops, boundary walls and electric infrastructure, while many roads were blocked due to fallen trees and debris and overflowing of drains in the so-called ‘Smart city’.
The weather impacted the electricity supply in the region. Power lines and electric poles were damaged after trees and branches fell on transmission lines, resulting in prolonged outages in many parts of Karimnaga town. Residents in several localities spent the entire night without electricity.
On the other hand, the officials of NPDCL and their teams were deployed on a war footing to restore power supply in the affected areas by installing new poles, removing the uprooted trees on electric lines, etc. The electricity officials worked around the clock and restored power supply to all localities by 10 am.

In the meantime, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with Mayor Kalagani Srinivas, visited Vaddera colony in 5th municipal division and inspected the uprooted and damaged houses. He assured financial assistance for the damaged houses.
Farmers’ woes continue
The sudden rains and hailstorm on Tuesday night were a rude shock to the farming community as their paddy stored in open in various procurement centres were soaked completely, causing huge loss. The farmers demanded that the government intensify the procurement of paddy and purchase the damaged and discoloured paddy.
Hundreds of quintals of paddy were soaked in the rain in the Karimnagar agriculture market yard. Expressing anger at officials, farmers said that they have to suffer the loss due to the delay in the procurement of the crop.
